Texas Is Not One Roofing Climate
A roof spec that performs in Dallas is the wrong spec in Corpus Christi and a waste of money in Amarillo. The state runs through four distinct sets of failure conditions, and the difference between contractors shows up in whether they account for them.
North and Central Texas is hail country and thermal cycling. Membrane thickness, puncture resistance, and impact rating carry the weight, and the documentation you have before a storm determines how a claim goes after it.
The Gulf Coast is a wind-uplift design problem before it's a roofing problem. Perimeter and corner attachment, edge metal engineering, and — inside the seaward catastrophe area — certification requirements that dictate the assembly, the fasteners, and the paperwork you'll need to insure the building afterward.
West Texas is UV and thermal movement. Long runs of metal, extreme daily temperature swing, and coatings that have to survive a solar load most of the country never sees.
East Texas is moisture and organic growth. Sustained humidity, heavy rain events, and drainage design that has to move water off the roof instead of holding it in a low spot for three days.
We spec to the zone the building is in. That's not a service, it's the minimum.
What is AVID?
AVID Roofing & Waterproofing is a commercial operator with more than $300 million installed over its leadership's careers. 205 combined years of leadership and field supervision, every bit of it earned in the field — installer, foreman, estimator, system designer — before anyone here ran anything. Every project is assigned to and fully supervised by a project manager whose name you'll know by the end of the first walk, and who sends you a written report every day the job is open.
We're manufacturer-certified with Sika, Siplast, Garland, Johns Manville, and FiberTite, and every system goes in to manufacturer specification.
The reason distance doesn't degrade the work is that the accountability structure doesn't change with the ZIP code. On a building six hundred miles from our office you get the same named project manager, the same daily written report, and the same core-cut assessment before anyone quotes a number. Most owners who've managed out-of-market roof work have had the opposite experience — a good first meeting, then a crew they never met and a superintendent they can't reach. That's the problem this company was built to solve.
Completed Texas work
The Shops at La Cantera — San Antonio. Complete reroof on an operating resort-retail property, coordinated around guest and tenant operations.
Macy's — Corpus Christi. 280,000 sq ft of TPO installed during active store operations. No closure, no disruption to the tenant below, on the Gulf Coast, in a building that couldn't stop selling.
Ben E. Keith — Fort Worth. Distribution facility reroof completed on an occupied, operating building.
Good Shepherd — Longview. Coating restoration on a medical office building in East Texas.
What We Do In Texas
Commercial roofing. 60-mil TPO, PVC, EPDM, modified bitumen, and standing-seam metal systems installed to manufacturer specifications on buildings that remain open during the work.
Design-build reroof. Assessment, drawings, submittals, and installation under one contract. No consultant fee stacked on top of the install, and one warranty covering the full assembly instead of a finger-pointing match between the designer and the installer when something leaks.
Architectural sheet metal. Copings, fascia, edge metal, and through-wall flashings fabricated in-house to ES-1 wind uplift standards. Edge metal is where most North Texas roofs fail first — and in a corridor that takes hail nearly every spring, that detail is the difference between a repair and a claim.
Waterproofing and restoration. Water doesn't only come through the roof. Tilt-wall joints, window perimeters, plaza decks, parking structures, below-grade walls — the other half of the envelope.
Roof asset management. Biannual GPS-tagged inspections, a multi-year capital plan, and 72-hour storm assessments on covered properties. Deferred maintenance isn't saving money. It's scheduling a bigger bill without telling you the date.
24/7 emergency service.
Active leaks, storm damage, failed flashings. Temporary dry-in within four hours on storm-driven leaks, and the line is answered by a person authorized to dispatch.
Emergency Dispatch: 833-766-3003.
Who Hires Us In Texas
Multi-site owners and asset managers. If you hold twenty buildings across four Texas markets, your problem isn't finding a roofer — it's that you have twenty different roofers, twenty inspection formats, and no single number for what the portfolio needs over the next five years. Roof asset management fixes that: biannual GPS-tagged inspections on every property, one documentation standard, one capital plan, one point of contact.
General contractors. Design-build reroofing under one contract and one warranty, with coordinated drawings, submittals, installation, and project scheduling.
National retail and corporate real estate. We've installed in operating stores, occupied distribution facilities, and active resort properties without a closure. The sequencing plan is written before anyone goes up, and you get a report every day the job is open.
Facility and plant managers. Manufacturing, healthcare, and controlled-environment buildings where the constraint is the operation, not the roof. Work phases around shutdown windows and shift changes, and every section is dried in at the end of every day.
Municipalities, counties, and school districts. Procurement-ready scopes with system specifications, manufacturer certification documentation, and line-by-line pricing so they survive review at a council meeting or commissioners' court.

Texas Commercial Roofing Frequently Asked Questions:
AVID assigns a dedicated project manager who remains involved from the initial assessment through project closeout. The roof is inspected on-site before the scope is finalized, and mobilization, logistics, permitting, and scheduling are addressed in the proposal. During construction, the client receives regular reports documenting progress, completed work, weather conditions, and issues requiring attention.
Yes. AVID can coordinate inspections, maintenance, repairs, and replacement planning across multiple Texas markets through one point of contact. Each property receives consistent documentation and condition reporting, allowing your team to compare roof priorities and develop a consolidated capital plan for the portfolio.
Not automatically. The correct assembly depends on each building’s climate, wind exposure, roof deck, drainage, operations, rooftop equipment, and existing conditions. AVID evaluates every property individually while using consistent inspection, documentation, and performance standards across the portfolio.
Coastal Texas construction inside the seaward catastrophe area carries certification requirements that govern the assembly, the attachment schedule, and the inspection paperwork needed to insure the building. Those requirements have to be designed in from the start, not resolved after installation. Talk to us early on a coastal project — the spec decisions that matter get made before the proposal, not during the install.
