After the Storm, Documentation Decides Everything.

North Texas takes hail seriously, and so should your roof. Hail damage to a commercial roof is often invisible from the ground and easy for an under-resourced adjuster to underestimate — fractured membrane, bruised insulation, damaged metal, and compromised seals that will fail months later. The difference between a fully covered restoration and a denied claim usually comes down to how thoroughly the damage was documented.

AVID Roofing & Waterproofing has managed hail and storm claims across 13 states. Our experienced field leaders know exactly what hail does to each roof system and how to document it in the detail an insurance carrier requires. We have stood beside building owners through the claims process and know how to make the damage undeniable.

Timing also matters more than owners expect. Insurance policies have deadlines for filing storm claims, and hail damage left undocumented can be disputed or denied as arising from a later, uncovered event. Acting promptly — and documenting thoroughly — is what keeps a legitimate claim defensible.

North Texas sits in one of the most active hail corridors in the country, and commercial roofs here take repeated punishment over their lives. Treating each significant storm as a documentation event — not just a wait-and-see — is how owners in this region protect both their roofs and their coverage.

Our Hail Response and Claims Process.

We begin with a comprehensive post-storm inspection, capturing the full extent of damage across the membrane, metal, penetrations, and drainage — including subtle damage that may surface later if missed now. Drone and thermal imaging support the assessment where they add value.

We then assemble documentation for the claim: photographs, measurements, and a written account of the damage and its cause. We coordinate directly with your insurance carrier and adjuster, so the claim is grounded in evidence rather than dispute. Once coverage is established, we restore the roof to full performance.

We know what each roofing system shows after hail. Membrane fractures, bruising, granule loss, dented metal, and compromised seals each present differently, and an inspector who knows the signatures catches damage that a generalist — or a hurried adjuster — walks right past.

What You Get and the Risk We Mitigate.

You get a complete damage assessment, claim-ready documentation, direct coordination with your carrier, and a restored roof. You also get an advocate who understands both the roofing and claims sides — a combination most owners do not have at their table.

The risk we mitigate is the under-documented claim: damage that goes unrecognized now and becomes an uncovered failure later, leaving you to pay for what the storm actually caused.

You also get an advocate who understands both sides of the table. Most building owners face the claims process without anyone who knows roofing and insurance equally well; we bring both, so the damage is recognized, documented, and translated into the terms carriers respond to.

Logistics and Continuity.

Post-storm demand spikes and timelines matter — both for protecting the building and for claim deadlines. We move quickly on inspection and documentation, then schedule restoration around your operations and tenants.

The same team that documents the damage and supports the claim carries the restoration through, so nothing falls through the cracks between assessment and repair.

Hail Damage

Frequently Asked Questions:

Look for dents, punctures, or cracks in the membrane, especially in a pattern across the roof rather than isolated spots. Some materials show granule loss or surface damage you can see from the ground or a ladder. But the real indicator is if leaks start appearing after a hail event—that's usually the first sign. Small dents or surface marks don't always mean the membrane is compromised; bigger punctures do. The problem is telling the difference without getting up there and inspecting carefully. That's where a drone inspection makes sense—you get clear photos of the actual damage before filing a claim or deciding on repair vs. replacement.

Not automatically. Manufacturer warranties generally cover defects in approved materials or installation, while storm and impact damage may be handled separately. Improper repairs can affect existing warranty coverage, so the roof should be inspected and repaired in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements. AVID documents the damage and determines the appropriate repair method before work begins.

The reporting deadline depends on the terms of your commercial property policy and the date the damage occurred or was discovered. Notify your insurance carrier promptly, review the policy’s notice requirements, and document the roof before permanent repairs begin. AVID can provide inspection photographs and a roofing scope for your adjuster, but we do not interpret insurance coverage or act as a public adjuster.

We provide a full inspection report with drone imagery, close-up photography of every impact point, core sample data where applicable, written damage assessment, and repair or replacement scope with pricing. This is the documentation your adjuster needs to process the claim. We don't file the claim for you, but we make sure nothing is missed in the documentation.

If hail damage is isolated—a few punctures or dents in one section—repair can work. But widespread damage across the roof usually means replacement. Multiple punctures mean multiple failure points, and repair costs add up fast. Insurance often covers replacement when damage is extensive enough, which can actually be cheaper than patching scattered holes. A drone inspection shows you the damage pattern; if it's scattered, replacement makes more sense than turning the roof into a patchwork.

Hail damage should be evaluated as soon as conditions are safe. Even small punctures or fractured seams can allow moisture to spread into the insulation and roof deck before an interior leak becomes visible. AVID documents the roof’s condition and, for qualifying active leaks, works to provide temporary dry-in within 72 hours while permanent repairs are evaluated.
